Kristen Halbert

Kristen Halbert has over a decade of experience in civic engagement, leadership development, and messaging. She holds issue-area expertise in outreach strategies for communities of color, social justice, and young professional circles. Kristen currently works as a Senior Associate at Black Lion Strategies and covers campaigns, organizing, and community/government relations. Prior to this role, she served as the Union Skills and Leadership Training Specialist at the Massachusetts Teachers Association where she is a former member.


Kristen has served in a variety of positions across the Greater Boston political universe, including GOTV Director for Stephanie Everett for State Rep, Community Engagement Advisor for David Halbert for Boston City Council, Deputy Director of Strategic Partnerships at Voter Choice Massachusetts during their historic signature gathering drive, and as Civic Engagement Director for former Boston City Councilor At-Large and current Mayor of Boston Michelle Wu. She has represented her campaigns and organizations at engagements across the country, including at the National Association of Nonpartisan Reformers Summit. Kristen has been a sought-after voice in political and community commentary, appearing on local radio, print, and television as well as national broadcast media including Fox News.


Residing in the historically Black neighborhood of Roxbury, she currently serves on the Massachusetts Democratic State Committee, as a board member for New Leaders Council Boston (where she is also an alum), and on the Board of Directors for Dorchester Bay Economic Development Corporation. Kristen is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts Boston, holding an MS in Urban Planning and Community Development.
